Government Contribution: Bonus Money
If you want to maximise the KiwiSaver Government Contribution, please remember to check how much you have contributed to date and top up your KiwiSaver account before 30 June 2024 if you need to.
When you contribute $1 to your KiwiSaver account, the Government matches it with 50 cents. This is known as the Government Contribution and it’s an excellent way to enhance your KiwiSaver savings. To learn more about how the Government Contribution works, please visit www.mercerfinancialservices.co.nz.
The maximum you may be entitled to is $521.43 per annum.
To receive the full amount, you need to have contributed at least $1,042.86 to your KiwiSaver account during KiwiSaver financial year (between 1 July and 30 June). Some criteria apply.
If you are employed and are contributing from your pay, some payments might still be on their way and haven’t been processed yet. You can check myIR account at www.ird.govt.nz to see these payments.
How do I pay into my KiwiSaver account?
To ensure you don’t miss out on the Government contribution, make sure to top up your KiwiSaver account before 30 June 2024. You can set up regular or lump sum contributions directly into your KiwiSaver account from your online banking system.
If you are employed, we suggest reviewing your contribution rate to see if it’s enough to qualify for the maximum Government contribution amount. You can increase it to maximise this benefit. The rates at which you can contribute from your pay are 3%, 4%, 6%, 8% or 10%.
